Congratulations to Andrea Turner, Miss West Virginia Teen USA

Benwood's own Andrea Turner received national recognition Monday August 8, 2005 as she became the second runner-up in the Miss Teen USA 2005 pageant.

The city of Benwood is very proud of what Andie has accomplished. The city threw a going away party prior to her departure for Baton Rouge, La., where the contest was held. - Mayor Edward Kuca Jr.

Turner was crowned Miss West Virginia Teen 2005 in October in Flatwoods. She was second runner-up in that competition in 2004.

The daughter of Gary and Denise Fonner. Turner maintained an A average throughout high school; she also worked as a soup kitchen volunteer and served on a fashion advisory board. She plans to attend West Virginia University in the fall and major in political science and then attend law school at WVU.

The 5-foot, 7 -inch blonde, green-eyed contestant is a 2005 graduate of John Marshall High School. She served as a cheerleader. She also competed in track, softball and gymnastics.
