Frank J. Longwell

Chief Longwell has
been a native of Benwood all his life and truly loves the town. He
attended Boggs Run

After graduation, he was elected to the office of Chief of Police at the age of 19. He was known as making an outstanding mark in history because he was one of the youngest persons of his time serving in a Chiefs’ position. After being elected to the Office of Chief of Police, Mr. Longwell attended and graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy in 1985. Since that time Longwell has attended hundreds of police training classes during his 25 years as a public servant. He is also a master expert (pistol) with his firearm. During his career as Chief, he has received many honors from former Sheriff’s and State agencies contributing to the remarkable success of the Benwood Police Department. Benwood has one of the lowest crime rates in the State of West Virginia. Longwell also serves as Public Safety Director for the City of Benwood . Chief Longwell and
his wife, Lori (Cox), who also serves on city council, reside at 1696 South Marshall Street
with their three children, Todd, Breanne, and Ashley. He has many
relatives throughout the City of Benwood, too many to mention. Longwell enjoys servings the citizens of the City
